Coffee in Portugal and Lisbon
The Portuguese coffee tradition dates back to the 18th century, when coffee cultivation was introduced in the former Portuguese colonies of Brazil, São Tomé & Príncipe, Cape Verde, Angola and Timor. The first cafés in Lisbon were also established at that time, such as the Martinho da Arcada (inaugurated by the Marquis of Pombal in 1782) or the Café Tavares (opened in 1784), both of which still exist today. The famous Café A Brasileira opened in 1905.

The label
The label of our Café de Lisboa was designed by the wonderful illustrator Hauke Vagt, who has been lovingly illustrating and portraying the streets, life and people of the Portuguese capital for over 20 years. You can find out even more about Hauke Vagt on our our coffee page, or browse directly to his great website: https://atelier49lisboa.com/

This coffee is suitable for espresso preparation of all kinds, but also for French Press or AeroPress.
